IV International Conference «Smart card payment systems, technologies and equipment» finished

13 Nov, 2008 at the International Exhibition Center, booth number 1, conference room number 1 at 10 a.m. opened 4-th conference «Smart card payment systems, technologies and equipment».

Anatoly Stefanovich Savchenko, the chief of the Department of Informatization of the National Bank of Ukraine opened the conference with welcoming remarks to conference participants. The report highlighted the current developments in informational and card policy of the National Bank of Ukraine and the work on the introduction of card systems being done today.

The same theme, but with a focus on the immediate prospects not only in banking but also other sectors of the economy, was continued by General Director of «Enterprise Plastic Card» Ltd. Kuklev Constantin Yurevich. The report revealed various aspects of the Multiaplication cards VISA. In his view, there are no fundamental technical or institutional barriers to the introduction of any national card projects, which have been already implemented in the West.

The main obstacle for Ukrainian projects, as clearly demonstrates the history of the card projects introduction in the Kiev subway, is the political factor!

Indeed, any large-scale project involves the mass of customers-voters, and as a result has very long and painful process of decision-making and approvals.

The draft card project of the Kiev Metro launched in the late twentieth-century but only in 2005, magnetic cards entered into use. Next stages of the project and other cards projects that have been discussed already for a long time — utilities, transport, travel, etc. also too much stretched for time, in comparison with the West deadlines.

An encouraging report «Integrated solutions in the field of payment systems company, AUTHOR» — which was actually demonstrated at the exhibition and their solutions. Solutions are implemented under the brand «PlatiMO» based on NSMEP — the National System of Mass Electronic Payments and have been implemented on the basis of national food supermarket network «Velyka Kyshenya».

Particularly interesting is the possibility of payment with a mobile phone standard NFC type Nokia 6212 classic, where the SIM card phone is equipped with the «electronic purse», as well as the possibility of self-payment kiosks.

As a base NSMEP is used in the solutions proposed by other speakers — a group of «Unisystem» (made by Denis Kotzeba) and Bank-O-phone (made by Pavel Gubin).

Marketing Director of NMT Group Irina Shtogrina spoke about different cards application — draft client system Bon-carte, which started to materialize and over 4 years reached 3 million of CARDHOLDERS.

It is a club of consumers, combining the suppliers of goods and services (including banks and grocery supermarkets), based on non-competitive retail.

According to the speaker the company has already spent about 1.5 million U.S. dollars at zero stage of the project (marketing, organizational and legal training) and in the nearest future, the entire Retail Ukraine is waiting for this club revolution!

Well, hopefully so, because the consumer will benefit from it.
